Pan Celtic Festival 2011
We have entered into talks with the Pan Celtic Festival 2011, about introducing textile events into this annual festival. The 2011 Festival is on from 26th April - 1st May, in Dingle, Co. Kerry, Ireland. All the countries involved ALBA (Scotland), BREIZH (Brittany), CYMRU (Wales), ÉIRE (Ireland), KERNOW (Cornwall) AND MANNIN (Isle of Man), have a strong textile heritage, and it is a great opportunity to showcase our shared, yet unique traditional handiwork. The response so far has been very positive, and it has been decided to select a particular medium of textile, Lace-making, to work within our first year. We hope each year, there might be a different medium picked, patchwork and quilting, knitting, weaving, etc...
So, the plan for our first year is:
(a) An exhibition of lacework from the Celtic countries,
(b) A talk on the history of lacework and
(c) A demonstration of the national styles of lacework.
If anyone with knowledge, a skill, or just plain enthusiasm, wants to get involved, just start chatting! We would love to hear from you.

Re: Pan Celtic Festival 2011
Just a little update.
The Lace event is going ahead as part of the Pan Celtic Festival. There will be an exhibition of lacework from, hopefully, all the Celtic Nations participating. We are also in talks with some Irish lacemaking experts, to come and give a talk and workshop on Irish lacemaking, such as Crochet Lace, Needlepoint, etc.
We will be woking on more details after Christmas, and will update as they are confirmed! We are very excited about this event....

Exhibition Dates
The exhibition of Lace is going to take place in An Disert, in Dingle, from 27th April - 1st May 2011. The exhibition will consist mainly of Irish Lace. Invitations have been sent to the participating Celtic countries, to exhibit Lace samples, but due to logistics, and timing, we are not sure if all the countries will be able to display work.
We are going to run a talk and workshop on Irish Lace-making on the Saturday, 30th April. We are currently in talks with two fantastic lace experts, Nora Finnegan and Maire Treanor. Nora, runs the Kenmare Lace Museum, and will give a talk/workshop on needlepoint lace. Maire is the author of 'Clones Lace', and has travelled internationally teaching Irish Crochet Lace.
As an extra bonus to come to Dingle, the Pan-Celtic Festival coincides with the start of Feile na Bealtaine, so there will be lots to do and see around the town. On Friday, 29th April, there will be a craft fair in an Disert, with, weather permitting, craft demonstrations in the grounds.
I will post more details as soon as I have them.
